Everything Old is New Again

Everything Old is New Again is a single 16mm loop of the title etched into black leader one letter at a time. The letters originated as handwriting that was then scanned and turned into vector files in Adobe Illustrator. The loop is a play with taking a thing that is seen as uniquely ours--our handwriting--and turning it into a repeatable mechanized output. The title references the recent surge interest in 16mm film exhibition in museums and galleries, with installations that hearken back to the earliest days of cinema when the projector itself was part of the experience of the shows.
